    Daily Dilemmas

    Today is my sister's birthday.  And the way it's all played out I have two "commitments" tonight...

    1) our Fantasy Football draft is tonight.
    2) a few of her friends & our mother are gathering for dinner at Gringo's.

    The draft was insane to plan out with the holiday weekend, vacations, etc.  And 9 Fridays out of 10, I'm at home with nothing to do.
    Birthdays in my family are always weird.  Half the people don't care about theirs or anyone elses.  Half the people care ALOT - mainly mom!  Must be cause she went thru labor or something.

    So, I'm bailing on my sister.  I know, I'm horrible brother.  But the upside should be that I'm not sitting there all night reminding her how much older she is than me!!

    Welcome Back

    Hey Everyone who loves me!  I know how much you've missed this blog, so I'm happy to announce that I have my laptop back from the shop.  New and Improved.  With TONS of free hard drive space!!!  What to do with it all????

    I went to the Dave Matthews concert on Friday night.  AMAZING!  A much needed mind-altering experience.  Who needs drugs?!?!

    I'm contemplating life again.  My path.  What lies ahead and where to go from here.  I'm open to ideas, thoughts, suggestions, directions, maps, job opportunities, mental health facilities...bring it on.  The world is my oyster.  LOL!!!

    Ok, I still have 100+ emails to go thru, myspace, facebook, etc.  Not to mention dinner and rest up for work this week!

    Oopah!

    It's officially Fall here in Southeast Texas.  Morning/Evening temps in the 60s...sunny 85+ degree days.  And festivals every weekend.  Today's stop, Greece @ 19th St & Ball Ave, with a friend.  It's nice having a single female friend around to enjoy "culture."  And I don't say "culture" in a snobby way.  Culture is everything, but some people enjoy expanding their cultured-self more than others.  I enjoy learning.  I enjoy being around people who enjoy learning.  Please note: I do not like homework...or god-forsaken exams!!  I prefer living my days without the burdens of finding a sharpened #2 pencil, ScanTron sheet & a Blue Book.  {{shiver}}

    The Greek Festival was well worth the $3 admission, which included authentic live music, something that sounded like "Greek Techno/Club" music, traditional dances performed by the youth, and a man appearing to be in his 60s who performed "traditional Greek party favorites...dancing upon a square-but-wobbly wooden table, lifting the same table with his teeth..twice!  The second time, he pulled a young boy (age 6-ish), sat him on the table & then picked it up with his teeth.  I've seen this done on TV, but seeing it live just adds to the "WTF?" factor.  Seriously, this can only be explained 2 ways...1) he has some sort of genetically-engineered jaw/dental structure or 2) magic.

    The Gyro was not worth $6.  We should've gone with the mystery meat on a stick.  When in doubt...always go with meat on a stick.

    Two "friendzone" notes:  everything is Dutch.  If I pay for anything jointly, I'm usually met with what appears to me to be hostility.  Not even a slightly flirty banter.  I softened to the point of letting her pay me back, but now, I tend to let her go first and avoid any conflicts.  I really hate awkwardness & conflicts.  This is the clearest indication of where our relationship line is.  Good conversation & "get-out-of-the-house" social friend (period).
